The Friendly Breathing Programme teaches you how to retrain your breathing so you can overcome your shortness of breath and shallow breathing. It’s designed to help you build a daily breathing ritual in 8 weeks so that you can breathe easily, sleep well, feel calm and boost your energy. It’s time to get your breath back on your side!

I have just completed my programme with Harriette. We worked together for 8 weeks to help me reduce a cough I have had for 9 years and improve my breathing which had laboured and very tickly. How breathwork helps

Hi, I'm Harriette

Working with women, like you, struggling with shortness of breath and shallow breathing. 

My story started way before I even knew about breath coaching; it started with my mum. I watched my mum trying to manage work, life and two kids when her breathing suddenly turned against her in her mid-40s. Fast forward 20 years and my own journey brings me to breathwork and my mission to help women just like her!

Now I coach women like my mum – women whose struggles with breath have started to take over their lives. I teach them how to use breathwork and wellbeing practices to retrain their breathing so they can breathe easy and live well. 

My clients are women whose career, home and social lives were being affected by their breathing. They wanted a worry-free life that allowed them to spend time doing the things they love with family and friends without their breath stopping them. With my help, they’ve discovered and fallen in love with a ritual that’s put them back in control to alleviate breathlessness, improve sleep, boost energy, reduce anxiety and feel calm yet vibrant.

Frequently asked questions

What is breathwork?

Breathwork is a way of consciously changing the way you breathe to affect how you feel physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. There are many different types that all stem from ancient lineages. The type of breathwork I use is Pranayama (Yogic breathing). 

Functional breathing techniques are a way of retraining the way you breathe daily. It’s a slightly different approach to most breathwork practices but The Butyeko Method does stem from Pranayama as well. 

I’ve tried breathing exercises before and they didn’t work

Firstly, I love that you have already tried some breathwork practices, that is awesome and is definitely the first step towards changing how you breathe. It sucks that it didn’t work for you, but there are so many different breathing exercises and not all of them are right for everyone. 

There are three things that may help you if you are ready to try again. The first one is understanding your own breathing pattern before trying to change it. Without awareness of how we breathe daily, we can’t really know what practice is right for us. The second is starting small, you don’t need to be spending hours on breathing practices, on the programme we start with 5 minutes 3 times a day. And the third thing is finding the right practice for you, there are so many breathing practices out there and it can be confusing to know which is the right one for you. We’ll explore this together as part of the programme.

Do you work with people with respiratory issues?

I do indeed, whether it’s asthma, COPD, long COVID, sleep apnoea or another breathing dysfunction. I work with you to improve your daily breathing and reduce symptoms linked with respiratory concerns.

Is there a payment plan available?

Absolutely! The programme cost can be split over 2 or 3 payments.

Do you work with pregnant people?

Postpartum yes, prenatal no, but I know some absolutely fab people who do, so if you are looking for support during pregnancy drop me a message and I can introduce you to someone who can help. 

Do you work with people going through menopause?

Absolutely! If your breathing has started to change during your perimenopause journey, firstly know that you are not alone, studies show 20% of women experience shortness of breath as one of the symptoms of menopause. Also know that The Friendly Breathing Programme was basically created for you! I’d love to hear more about your experience. Whenever you are ready, book a call in and we can chat. 

Can you help me with breathlessness?

Sure can, breathlessness, shortness of breath, dyspnoea (the medical term if breathlessness). Your breathing should never get in the way of your day-to-day life, and if it is then you can change that. That’s what I teach in The Friendly Breathing Programme.
