The women’s breathing coach combining ancient wisdom with modern science
I’m here to guide you toward better, easier breathing by blending breathwork techniques, wellness practices, and some of my favourite theatre warm-ups (after all, actors, singers, and dancers are experts at breath control).
My journey
Imagine a household where a young girl is struggling with asthma as she goes through puberty, just as her mother experiences severe breathing challenges during perimenopause. That was my house back in the late 90s, early 00s. I always wonder how things would have been different if I knew then what I know now! This is where my journey began to supporting women like you with their breathing, but of course I didn’t know this was the beginning
Fast forward to 2020 (yep I am one of the ones who discovered their purpose as they world locked down) and I’ve started my Yoga Foundation qualification. I thought I’d become a yoga teacher after practicing it since my years studying performing arts at university. Turns out that was just the start of falling down the rabbit hole towards women’s breathwork coaching. Pranayama (a breathwork technique centred in yoga) teacher training followed the foundation and a breathwork workshop with ‘The Breath Guy’ sparked my interest in functional breathing practices.
This is where it gets interesting. During my next qualification to become a Buteyko instructor (another breathing technique) we did a small amount of ‘female breathing’. No one had ever told me that women breathe differently before this point, and this fuelled a fire within me to find out more.
I got to work researching women’s breathing from every source I could. I was amazed to discover that both my asthma during puberty and my mum’s breathing challenges throughout menopause were linked to our hormones and cycles. And I was even more delighted to learn that we can in fact train the way we breathe. I’ve been here professionally supporting women’s breathing ever since.
I love that I get to support women to breathe well, to overcome shallow/chest breathing, to get rid of that daily shortness of breath, to sleep better, to feel calmer and to have more energy.
